     Robert Newton Moreland, 92, of Short Gap, W.Va., died Friday, May 20, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
     Born Jan. 14, 1919, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Cleveland and Anna Pearl (Culp) Moreland. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Moreland, Arthur Moreland, Carl Moreland, Leonard Moreland, and Jonas Moreland; and four sisters, Delena Malone, Dorothy Yoder, Edna Blauch, and Lila Liller.
     Mr. Moreland was a Master Plumber for all of his life and was employed by L & Y Plumbing Company for over 50 years.
     He had been an active member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren, where he was a lifetime Deacon and had also served as financial secretary.
     Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Naomi "Dot" (Abe) Moreland, of Ridgeley; one son, Robert "Myron" Moreland and wife Eleanora, of Ridgeley; one daughter, Naomi J. Miller and husband Preston, of Burlington; two brothers, Ray Moreland and wife Kathryn, of Ridgeley, and Reathard Moreland and wife Odie, of Ridgeley; five grandchildren, Robert "Robbie" Moreland and wife Lisa, of Romney, Jeannie Malone and husband Sean, of Ridgeley, Ryan Moreland, of Ridgeley, Dana (Miller) Branson, of Charles Town, and Todd Michael Miller, of Burlington; six great grandchildren, John David Diehl, Destiny Branson, Kaden Malone, Tage Malone, Lucas Moreland, and Logan Moreland; four great great grandchildren, Tyler, Riley, Ian, and Hailey Diehl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Friends will be received at the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren on Sunday, May 22, 2011, from 2 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastors Dave Sutton and Preston Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Abe Cemetery.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department, Route 2, Box 146, Ridgeley, WV 26753.

    RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Naomi “Dot” Moreland, 90, of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Hopemont Hospital, Terra Alta, W.Va.

    Born Oct. 28, 1922, in Ridgeley, she was the daughter of the late Hiram N. Abe and Effie (Catlett) Abe. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert N. Moreland and one brother, Melvin Abe.

     Mrs. Moreland was a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed writing music and poetry. She had been an active member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren, where she was a lifetime Deacon.

     Surviving her is one son, R. Myron Moreland and wife Eleanora, of Ridgeley; one daughter, Naomi J. Miller and husband Preston, of Burlington; one brother, Virgil Abe and wife Ruth, of Fort Ashby; five grandchildren, Robbie Moreland and wife Lisa, of Romney, Jeannie (Moreland) Malone and husband Sean, of Ridgeley, Ryan Moreland, of Ridgeley, Dana (Miller) Branson of Martinsburg and Todd Michael Miller, of Burlington; six great-grandchildren, John David Diehl, Destiny Branson, Kaden Malone, Tage Malone, Lucas Moreland and Logan Moreland; four great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Riley, Ian, and Hailey Diehl and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Friends will be received at the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, from 2 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastors Ed Weaver and Dave Sutton officiating.

     Interment will be in the Abe Cemetery, Ridgeley.
