RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Clifton Jackson “Tip” Jenkins Sr., 74, of
Ridgeley, W.Va., went to be with Jesus with his family beside him on Monday,
Aug. 29, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born July 23, 1937, in Levels, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and
Virginia (Mayhew) Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his first wife,
Patsy A. Jenkins; brothers and sisters, Ed, Fred, Roy, Bob, Dot, and Ann Cowgill,
Billy, Donnie, and Sonny Jenkins, and daughter-in-law, Georgia Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins was a mechanic for Ryder Track Rental. Tip served in the Air Force
during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, Ridgeley, W.Va.
Tip was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, eating with his
family, and watching youth football games.
Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Carol (Cope) Jenkins; sons, Clifton J.
“Kip” Jenkins Jr., of Short Gap, and Mark A. Jenkins and wife Connie, of Mora,
Minn.; stepson, Jeffery Cope, of Ridgeley; daughter, Sonya M. Aldridge and
husband Michael, of Fort Ashby; one sister, Ramona “Monnie” Hedrick and husband
Royce, of Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Paul S. Jenkins, Tyra L. Flynn,
Forest L. Morris IV, Marcus A. Jenkins, John M. Lippold, Haven Jenkins and
Emily Cope; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
At his request his body will be cremated and there will be private service held
at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray
funeral expenses.
