LEONARD C. KIMBLE
Leonard Calvin Kimble, 91, of Route 3, Ridgeley, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his daughter, son, and their family members.
Born Oct. 11, 1920 in Petersburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jesse and Rissie (Ketterman) Kimble.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ruth (O’Brien) Kimble; one son, Calvin Junior Kimble; three brothers, Ray, Norman, and Glen Kimble; and a sister, Pauline Rudolph.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Kimble had been a carpenter, having worked for C.W. Wright Construction and Marcellus Donahue. He had also worked at the railroad.
He was a member of Bethel Tabernacle Assembly of God.
Survivors include one son, Harold L. Kimble, Winchester, Va.; a daughter and her husband, Charles Paul, at the home in Ridgeley; siblings, Paul Kimble and Daniel Kimble, both of Beans Cove, Pa., John Kimble, Cumberland, Elizabeth Martin, Hagerstown, Mary Stickley, Flintstone, and Martha Martin, Oregon; four grandchildren, Pam Pullen, Michael Kimble, Heather Imes, and Pamela Plummer; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Cody, Chelsea, Cassandra, J.P., Cory, and Jay.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Darrell Tichinel and Rev. Glenn Welsh officiating.
Interment will be in Abe Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kayla Pullen, Brad Kimble, Raymond Pullen, Charles Paul, Mike Kimble, and Mr. Kimble’s daughter.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Hospice of Potomac Valley Hospital, especially Marsha Combs and Nicole Corbin, for the kind, compassionate care provided to their father. They are also grateful to Aging & Family Services of Mineral County for their assistance, especially to Marcia, Christi, and Linda.
