— FROSTBURG — Carl “Bus” Edward Matthew, 83, of Frostburg, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

Born July 6, 1929, in Wiley Ford, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clinton E. and Dona M. (Shaffer) Matthew. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Gertrude (Arbogast) Matthew; one brother, Roy Matthew; one sister, Audrey Wagoner.

Bus was a member of the Emmanuel-Bethel United Methodist Church, where he was very actively involved with the church.  On April 19, 1977 he married his wife Josephine and was a dedicated husband until her death on April 22, 2009. Bus was owner of Matthew Shale Works in Wiley Ford.

Surviving are his step-son, Robert Arbogast and wife Ade of Swanton; two sisters, Wanda Tucker of Irmo S.C., Betty Chucci of Rawlings; brother-in-law, Dewey Wagoner of Wiley Ford; sister-in-law, Mary Matthew of Frostburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating,.

Interment will be in Abe Cemetery on Old Furnace Road.

— CUMBERLAND — Evelyn Baldwin, 83, of Cumberland, passed away on her birthday, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born June 19, 1929, in Patterson Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Felix C. and Nancy Mae (Senn) Baldwin. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Baldwin worked as a retail clerk at Woolworths for 33 years. After retirement she worked as a caregiver, giving the best of care to many fortunate people.
Surviving are one step-sister, Betty Davis of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; one nephew, John Black and wife Nancy of Tennessee; two great-nephews, John and Jason Black; seven great-great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Hunter, Joshua, Morgan, Brennan, Hayden and Lillian, all of Nashville, Tenn.; special friends, Coleen, Dick and Rick Kenney; and a special caregiver, Sue Balbach.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Abe Cemetery, Short Gap, W.Va. on Thursday at 10 a.m.
A special thank you to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for the special care given to her the last few months.

     RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Nancy Marie Baldwin, 73, of Rt. 3, Ridgeley, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Devlin Manor Healthcare Center.
     Born in Patterson Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Felix Conway Baldwin and Marie V. (Davis) Baldwin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, the Revs. Harry and Harley Baldwin, and Maynard Lee “Buck” Davis; and two sisters, Helen Black and Violet L. Ellis.
     She graduated from Fort Ashby High School, class of 1956, and was a homemaker.
     She loved going to her church, Faith Assembly of God, and her church family.
     Nancy is survived by her loving husband, W. Lee White, whom she married on July 29, 1961; her daughter, Virginia Marie Eye and husband Gary, of Old Fields, W.Va.; two grandsons, Eric and Keith Eye, of Old Fields; two sisters, Betty Lou Davis, of Fort Ashby and Evelyn Baldwin, of Cumberland. several nieces and nephews; loving friends, and church family of Faith Assembly of God.
     Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
     The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jack Street officiating.
     Interment will be in Abe Cemetery.
